Space is the Place

from the LP Lost In Space, Tommy Boy Records, 1983

The Boston-based Jonzun Crew weren’t exactly successful in there time, but they have come to be known as one of the most eccentric and beloved of all electro-themed groups from the 1980s; you really need to do an image search on them to get an idea of exactly how far out they were looking---it’s like Mozart meets Liberace on the set of some spaghetti Western flick. This track orbits the room like a funky satellite, laser-synths and evil vocoders reign supreme, carrying the interplanetary P-Funk torch into a new decade. Based on the year this was released, their wacky outfits & their locale of Beantown, I’m gonna guess these cats was smoking mad wet (that’s “PCP” for those uninitiated to the depths of dustedness) while writing & recording this song…smoking wicked mad illy yo!
