from the LP Music From Big Pink, Capitol Records, 1968Just as I was sitting down to type up a new post I was met with the awful breaking news of legend Dennis Hopper’s passing today at his home in California, from complications due to prostate cancer; he was only a year younger than my father. His acting work through six (count em: 1950s, ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s, and 2000s) fucking generations speaks for itself, and his humanitarian work over the years exhibits a real passionate commitment to human rights. That said, the man was no saint, nor would I presume he would have wanted anyone to think of him that way---shit, who does?! This song felt appropriate. Rest in peace.
