Looking back through my postings thus far, I realized that I had yet to add any mixes taped live at a rave, where you don’t have the luxury of re-do’s or privacy; so, what better place to start than a party which I actually attended and helped promote! Wilhelm K, in Detroit by way of suburban NYC, was a rather notorious DJ, producer & promoter back in the day; his reputation as a sassy bitch was only half-deserved, but he was never afraid to tell somebody to go fuck themselves---a habit that is sure to make waves in a scene that was somewhat bent on kindergarten-drama. Personality aside, the “Get” parties he organized (1 – 4) were some of my favorite raves ever, which is not to say they were without commotion; the headliner this night was hip-hop troupe the Pharcyde, and the place was so packed they had to stop letting people in---easily 3,000 ravers in a 1,800 capacity venue. I saw kids paying the Detroit-based security crew (i.e. not friendly) hundreds of dollars to let them in the back, one kid even gave em a whole zip of dank!
