No, not those Jackson sisters, but these girls’ manager certainly planned on their name helping them along more than it wound up doing; it’s really too bad, because on the weight of this song alone, these Jackson’s clearly had something as well. Some research reveals that the two family’s stories proceed in opposite directions: The Jackson family that we all know far too much about moved west, from Gary, Indiana to L.A., while these Jackson siblings moved east to record in Detroit after being reared on the mean streets of Compton. This was the single which garnered them their 15 minutes of fame, and though you might have never heard the actual song, any house-heads out there will immediately recognize the blaze of horns from Basement Jaxx’s anthemic “Red Alert”, where they sampled them to much acclaim.
