from the LP Ride the Lightning, Megaforce Records, 1984Long before they lost their flowing locks (what is it with musicians cutting their hair and consequently becoming lame as fuck?!), Metallica were the champions of outsider metal; not content to wear makeup and sing about groupie skanks, they played faster, harder, and better than 99% of their peers. This entire album, which I initially owned on cassette tape, fed my rebellious spirit, and this song in particular would always get my contrarian juices flowing, to the dismay of my parents. Totally rocking back then is only half of the reason for my posting them here however, as the ethos found within the lyrics of this song fly somewhat in the face of their more current stance against music downloading; so, I think it’s only fair to post it here. It’s just too funny picturing grumpy old Lars and his gigantic forehead, all furrowed in coked-up, tightly-wound anger!
