Well, noted underground producer & all-around keyboard wizard Errol Reid & pal Mick Okoro tried pretty hard to answer that quandary from within the electronic laboratory which was their London-area studio, churning out this sparkling little number under the guise of ‘Kadenza’, a Latin word (of the dead language variety, not Latino) which loosely translates into “with rhythm”. Bumping along at a lascivious mid-tempo pace, this track contains two elements that make it all but irresistible to me: 1) a dirty, cheap vocoder who duets with the resident diva throughout the song, keeping things really spacey, and 2) that body-shaking, panty-dropping behemoth of a synthbass. Considering all the numbingly average boogie groups that got to cut full albums in the ‘80s, it’s a crying shame that these guys only dropped 3 singles before disappearing from sight.
