from the LP Don’t Stop, Ariola Benelux Records, 1981I always tend to enjoy the rhythmic interplay between the electronic and the organic; in this case, the synthesis of drum machines & synthesizers with a steady congo-based loop make for an exceedingly funky blend, without a hint of dissonance. There wasn’t a lot of information about K.I.D., but it seems like for all intensive purposes, it was the project of one Geoff Bastow, a writer & music producer who had cut his chops under none other than the master himself, Giorgio Moroder; who the people on the front cover are is anyone’s guess, perhaps the backup singers and session musicians? At any rate, Mr. Bastow does his mentor proud here, updating that late ‘70s, space-disco sound and embellishing the track impeccably with all manner of electronic blips and bleeps; you almost feel like you’re inside a video game or something.
